Community Leadership Program

Better leaders make stronger organizations, resulting in healthier communities.

Boise State University is partnering with local organizations to provide non-credit professional development for leaders within the CIP communities.  The Community Leadership Program supports the CIP mission by engaging community members who want to enhance their leadership skills, strengthen their organizations, and make their community a better place to live, work, and do business.

Who is this program for?

The program is designed for community members who desire to develop personally and professionally as leaders, and contributors to their community.   The participants will represent a cross-section of the population’s business, government, and non-profit organizations.

Partnership Opportunities

The Community Leadership Program is brought to communities in partnership with a local organizational sponsor.  Boise State provides the instructor and content at no cost to students or sponsors.  Local sponsors handle the site logistics and student recruitment.  Ideal partner organizations are chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, governments, and business organizations.

What will participants learn?

The course supports three essential leadership themes:  Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Together.

Courses:

  • The Self-Aware Leader:  Understands their unique strengths and growth opportunities and has a plan for continued growth
  • The Serving Leader:  Focuses on the growth and well-being of the people, organizations and communities to which they belong
  • The Relational Leader:  Nurtures healthy and productive relationships by increasing emotional and social leadership skills
  • The Empowering Leader:  Develops others by giving them the power and the support to be the best they can be at what they do
  • The Collaborative Leader:  Engages individuals to combine their knowledge and skills to improve processes, solve problems, and accomplish more together than they could individually
  • The Innovative Leader:  Knows the conditions, primary models, and team dynamics necessary for collaborative innovation and can apply this knowledge to address challenges and pursue opportunities
